NEED: REPURPOSED CAREER TECHNICAL EDUCATION CENTER
BLACKFOOT TECHNICAL EDUCATION CENTER
Blackfoot High School is currently at capacity with no room for growth in critical areas of career readiness.
Repurposing the existing I.T. Stoddard Elementary School as a part of the Blackfoot High School Campus will provide the space needed for growth in CTE's and career innovation.
What is CTE and why is it important?
“CTE or Career and Technical Education give students the academic, technical and employability skills needed for postsecondary and workplace success.”
-
Traditionally education focuses on math, science, history, english. While college bound students might need strong traditional focuses, there is a great need for skills for jobs of the future.
-
A Technical Education Center would give students in our community the opportunity to learn skills in order to maintain a job in the future. CTE classes provide real world career opportunities that put academic classes to work.
-
Partnerships with local colleges would allow for students to graduate high school with up to 30 dual college credits, at no cost to them. This could leave students with one year to college graduation.
